Going to Court Scares Me To Death
Going to Court Scares Me, How Can I Cope?
I have never been to court, not even traffic court, so the idea of going to court scares me to death.
Wow, you have never been to court. Good for you.
I think the most recent statistic is that only 4 % of all divorces end up in court. That means the parties involved settle instead. Since you are writing to me, you are more than likely in a toxic divorce. I am sure it comes as no surprise that the most difficult and toxic divorce cases are the ones that end up in court. A good attorney should steer you away from going to court. Why? Because no one should let a judge make permanent life decisions for you. A settlement, that you and your soon-to-be ex can live with is always the best option.
Please let your attorney know of your fears and suggest that you settle out of court. My guess is your attorney will make the suggestion first.
